A Little Bit About Me

A look into the life of an aspiring author.

My name is Najla. I'm 24 years old.

It's such a weird age to be. The people younger than you are expecting you to be more and the people older than you claim you have all the time in the world.

All I know are the thoughts in my head telling me that I should be further along than I am.

I grew tired of feeling stuck and stagnant all of the time while the voice in my head screamed at me to get up and do something about it.

So I did.

I was raised in a far from comfortable environment, and all my life the adults around me told me I was never going to make it in the real world with my head in the clouds. (To put things politely.) So, I set on a determined journey to prove them wrong and to find out who I truly am. I pushed past the spirit crushing words and opinions and for the first time, truly opened my eyes to how toxic my environment was. So, then I built up my barriers and cut the parts of people out of my life that I didn't need. My whole life changed from then on.

Am I healed?

No.

That isn't reality. But I am living a better quality of life.

In the past year, I have pushed myself past limits I had set for myself. I successfully wrote and published 4 children's books, adopted a load of pets, bought my own house, traveled and overall learned to be a little more comfortable inside my own skin.

I am making my own sunshine now, and I realize that my life is in my own hands.

And with that, my quest is to write the books that I needed to read when I was younger. The books that say you are perfect, you deserved to be a kid. I will make sure that message reaches the younger generation.

This year has proved to be a bigger challenge than the last.

But I'm Ready.
